Mozilla Fire Fox Browser
The Mozilla Foundation have reached a significant
milestone in
the development of the Fire Fox browser and are in rightful
celebrationary mood. for when this review went to publication,
downloads
totalled in excess of 400 million. Out stripping any browser
competition
including Internet Explorer. The software development programme
continues with daily update builds and constant security enhancements.
The bundle is complimented with continued design of
themes, add ons and extensions. Freeware!
Thunderbird Email Software
The suite can also be used as an RSS
reader. The foundation also offers extensions to the programme.
The only word of advice and caution is that the programme is rigid in
it's security and configuration. Please take your time when setting up
your
emails and write down your user name and passwords as you will be asked
this information. Failure to configure an email properly will result in
having to remove the email and the settings and start again. It is
worth taking a while to dig around as it has a great many features to
offer and will be your best friend when you become accustomed to it.
Freeware!
Sea Monkey Browser and
Web Authoring Suite
The Mozilla Foundation Sea Monkey is an evolutionary
build
from Netscape Navigator 7.2 Suite. You can navigate the web and create
web pages using composer that is very stable now and authors pages to
meet World Wide Consortium HTML 4.01 compliant standards. My only
criticism is the original build enabled you to access easily composer
from your programmes menu task bar. With Sea Monkey you have to open up
the browser application 'Click On Windows' at the top of your browser
in the top tabs and then select 'Composer'. Other than that it is fine
and dandy and will get you started on the road to building your first
web page. Good luck and have fun! Freeware!
Filezilla FTP Software
I recently decided to explore more modern ftp software
than my
existing versions that dated back to the late 90's. After a good many
tests of different providers I cam across FileZilla and agave it a
whirl after some really positive comments from other fellow developers.
It is an excellent piece of software and punchy, it constantly bashes a
connection and is NOT slow or sluggish. Excellent Product. Suitable for
Windows users, with a GNU open source public license. Freeware!
