Access Privileges

A users rights to access certain host machines for folders sub folders, files and resources. Sometimes for editing or to run programmes.

Account

An agreement with a service provider to access and use the features made available in the way of email, chat and access to the Internet. Sometimes free, but normally for a monthly fee.

Activate

To make a window the active one by clicking on it using your mouse.

Active Window

Pressing on a programme bar that has been reduced on a computer will bring up the window again and therefore activates the programme or feature for interaction.

ACU

Automatic Cell Unit. A Fanciful name for a modem device.

Address Area

An area in an email suite or messenger's programme, where a new message window appears where you can write and edit your list of e-mail addresses.

Address Book

A feature on an email software programme suite that lets you store individual e-mail addresses and address lists.

Address Book Card

An electronic record of an individual's name, e-mail, address, etc. Often used in an e-mail programme suite such as Thunderbird known as an vCard. Similar to a signature, but presented in a more sophisticated and dynamic way almost like a virtual business card.

Address List

A list of e-mail addresses in an e-mail software suite. Where the address list lets you send e-mail to many individuals at once, without having to enter each individual e-mail address. Please be aware the sending of unsolicite mail is spam.
